Hey everyone, gather around for this action-packed homesteading update that’ll make you appreciate every bit of dirt under your fingernails! From wrestling massive stumps in the Ozarks to battling surprise leaks in the kitchen, this day on the homestead was nothing short of an adventure. We had everything: heavy machinery, chainsaws, fresh produce, and even a cameo from the chickens!

First up, we kicked off the day by tackling a stubborn stump cluster that refused to budge—until we unleashed the power of a mini excavator. You’d be amazed at how tenacious old roots can be! Once that eyesore was out of the ground, we smoothed the area and prepped it for the fence line. The soil in the Ozarks is surprisingly rich and rock-free in places, which is a huge bonus when you’re clearing land and making way for new projects.

But that wasn’t the only big task for the day. We also set up premium poultry netting to give our flock a new playground. They got their beaks into leftover sunflowers and watermelon vines—an organic cleanup crew that turns garden scraps into quality eggs. Speaking of watermelon, we sliced into our first homegrown melon of the season. It was so sweet we almost forgot about the sticky heat and never-ending chores!

Then came the unexpected drama—a leak sneaking its way up the wall, behind the backsplash. Nothing says “country living” like sudden plumbing surprises. We think we’ve traced the issue, but only time (and a few more screwdriver turns) will tell. When it rains, it pours, right?

Finally, we wrapped things up with some neighborly help. We visited Aunt Swami’s place, clearing out more trees and brush to make room for her upcoming shed-to-home project. Nothing beats the feeling of community when folks come together to move stumps, swap tools, and share a cold drink in the scorching sun.

Whether you’re here for gardening tips, building inspiration, or a good laugh at the daily curveballs of homesteading, this video is sure to keep you glued to the screen. Hit play and join us for a behind-the-scenes look at the triumphs (and a few woes) of building a sustainable life in the beautiful Ozark Mountains.
